    Asynchronous HTTP API – Beta Launch

    SmartThings Developers – we’re excited to announce a beta version of APIs that allow developers to make HTTP requests to third party services asynchronously. These APIs work similarly to existing APIs like httpGet(), httpPut(), etc., but with one big difference – they are executed asynchronously.     Fixed an issue where apps that were scheduled in the cloud then moved to local execution and the cloud schedule would remain. SmartApps will now only be scheduled in either AppEngine or Ticker. Improve SmartApp performance by caching preferences and pages. Added option to force delete device that are references in any SmartApps.

    Release Notes – Hub Firmware – 15.3

    On Monday 15 August, between 4:00 pm BST and 7:00 pm BST, we will automatically update your SmartThings Hub to the latest firmware (version 0.15.3). The update is expected to take less than 10 minutes, during which time your SmartThings Hub will temporarily go offline and events scheduled for this time will not be processed. The firmware update adds general improvements to the Hub firmware and ZigBee communications. The update also fixes isolated issues with memory corruption, LAN devices, and network connectivity.     We are excited to announce the new hideWhenEmpty preferences configuration option. This feature will be useful to all developers wanting to provide a more succinct and friendly installation flow for your SmartApps. Prior to today if you wanted to hide an input field you would have needed to clutter up your code with if statements. This was hard to read and added another layer of complexity to your code.
